It has caused heartache, pain, and suffering for not just the patient, but also their loved ones. And little did I know, that in the year 2024, cancer would show up in my life, but with it came a strength and presence that I never could have imagined – God.
It was an ordinary day, just like any other. I woke up to the sound of my alarm, got ready for work, and headed out the door. Little did I know, my life was about to change in a way I never thought possible. As I went about my day, I noticed a lump on my neck. At first, I thought it was nothing to worry about, but as the days went by, the lump grew bigger and more prominent. I decided to get it checked out, just to be on the safe side. The diagnosis came back as cancer.

My world came crashing down in an instant. I couldn’t believe it. How could this be happening to me? I was scared, angry, and confused all at the same time. But amidst all the chaos and fear, I found myself turning to God. I had always believed in a higher power, but I had never truly experienced His presence until that very moment. I remember sitting in my doctor’s office, trying to process the news. And as I sat there, tears streaming down my face, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. It was as if God was telling me, “I’ve got this.
I’ve got you.” And from that moment on, I knew that I wasn’t alone in this battle. As I began my treatments, I found myself relying on God more and more. He became my source of strength and comfort during the darkest days of my life. I would pray for strength and courage, and every time, I could feel Him answering my prayers. And even on the days when I felt like giving up, I would always find a way to keep going because I knew that God was with me every step of the way. It wasn’t an easy journey. Cancer never is. There were days when I felt like I couldn’t take it anymore, but every time I would look down at my “God Showed Up Bigger 2024” t-shirt, I would be reminded of His love and presence in my life. And through it all, God showed up bigger than cancer. He showed up in the form of my doctors, nurses, and caregivers who worked tirelessly to help me fight this disease.
